Repository Policy
Pakistan Journal of Zoological Sciences (PJZS | ISSN: 3105-5222) supports the wide dissemination of research by allowing authors to deposit copies of their work in repositories of their choice.
Author Rights
Authors who publish with PJZS retain full copyright over their work. They are free to share their articles through various channels without seeking permission from the publisher.
What Authors Can Deposit
Authors may deposit the following versions of their article in any repository:
The submitted version of the manuscript, often called the preprint, is the original version of the article before it undergoes peer review. Authors may share this version at any time, including before submission to PJZS.
The accepted version of the manuscript, also known as the postprint, is the final author-created version that has been through peer review and incorporates all revisions suggested by reviewers. This version does not include the final typesetting and formatting applied by the publisher.
The published version of the article is the final PDF version as it appears on the PJZS website. This version includes all copyediting, typesetting, and formatting done by the journal.
Where Authors Can Deposit
Authors are permitted to deposit their work in the following places:
Institutional repositories are maintained by universities and research institutions to preserve and showcase the scholarly output of their faculty and students. Authors may deposit their articles in their own institution's repository.
Subject-based repositories serve specific academic disciplines and allow researchers worldwide to access and share work within that field. Examples relevant to zoology include bioRxiv, arXiv, and others.
Personal websites and academic profiles allow authors to share their work directly with colleagues and the public. Authors may post their articles on their own websites or on academic networking platforms such as ResearchGate and Academia.edu.
Any other non-commercial repository of the author's choice is also permitted. The goal is to ensure that research reaches the widest possible audience.
Conditions
Authors who deposit their work must include proper attribution to the original publication in PJZS. This includes providing the article's DOI and a citation to the final published version. A link to the article on the PJZS website should also be included.
No Embargo Period
PJZS does not impose any embargo period. Authors may deposit their work immediately upon publication. There is no waiting period.
Why This Policy Matters
This policy aligns with the principles of open access and ensures that research published in PJZS reaches the widest possible audience. It helps authors comply with the open access requirements of many funding agencies and institutions. It also increases the visibility and impact of published work.
Publisher Commitment
PJZS is committed to supporting authors in sharing their research. We believe that knowledge should be freely available to all who seek it, and our repository policy reflects this commitment.
